Longevity supplement manufacturer for healthy ageing formulas

We are a longevity supplement manufacturer, taking custom healthy ageing supplements for premium brands from formulation to finished product in our Leicester facility. Each formula uses a focused set of actives at studied doses, carries an authorised nutrient claim on GB and EU labels and comes in a format people take every day. That means creatine at 3 g a day for the claim for adults over 55, at least 200 mg of cocoa flavanols a day for the cocoa flavanol claim, and NAD+ formulas built for each market. We make small capsules and tablets, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids and gummies, designed for older buyers.

People aged 60 and over already account for 27% of global consumer spending (World Data Lab via the World Economic Forum, 2026). A bespoke formula gives a brand its own actives, doses and evidence, and control of its supply. Your formula is yours.

Muscle, NAD+, polyphenols, joints and midlife women

Brands are building five product types.

  • Muscle and mobility. Muscle mass and strength fall with age, and the PROT-AGE study group recommends at least 1.0 to 1.2 g of protein per kg of body weight a day for people over 65 (Bauer and colleagues, 2013). Brands answer with protein, creatine, vitamin D and magnesium. See creatine supplement manufacturing.
  • NAD+ and cellular energy. NMN for the US, niacin-led formulas for GB and the EU, and urolithin A where a market permits it, often with coenzyme Q10.
  • Polyphenols. Cocoa flavanols, pomegranate, grape, berries and pine bark, each standardised to its marker compounds.
  • Joints and skin. Collagen with vitamin C, which carries the claim "Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage". See collagen supplement manufacturing.
  • Midlife women. In BCG's survey, women in perimenopause or menopause adopted longevity interventions at rates 15 to 22 percentage points higher than other women or men, and roughly a third would spend more on a product or service that showed results (BCG, 2026). See menopause supplement manufacturing.

Formats older buyers can swallow, open and read

Older buyers choose formats they can swallow, open and read. FDA's guidance on generic tablets and capsules cites studies linking sizes above about 8 mm in diameter with more complaints of swallowing difficulty and suggesting that oval tablets may be easier to swallow than round tablets of the same weight. It recommends that a tablet's largest dimension not exceed 22 mm and that capsules not exceed a standard 00 size (FDA, 2022). We design to those limits from the first brief.

  • Capsules in smaller sizes, with a dose split across two units where needed, made in-house and GMP certified. See capsule and tablet manufacturing.
  • Tablets, film-coated, oval and kept small, are made in-house, as are mini and orodispersible tablets.
  • Powders, sachets and stick packs carry gram doses of protein, creatine, collagen and spermidine-rich extract, and are made in Leicester.
  • Liquids suit people who would rather not swallow tablets, with flavour work to mask bitter actives. See liquid supplement manufacturing.
  • Gummies build a daily habit, with every batch assayed. "Sugar-free" needs no more than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g, and "reduced sugar" at least 30% less than a similar product, with no more energy. More than 10% added polyols brings the statement "excessive consumption may produce laxative effects".

In GB and the EU, mandatory label information needs an x-height of at least 1.2 mm, or 0.9 mm on packs whose largest surface is under 80 cm². We specify larger type, strong contrast and easy-open packs, such as wide-mouth bottles and push-through blisters, wherever the design allows.

We make every format in our Leicester facility, which is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered; capsules, gummies and liquids are GMP certified.

Reconciling NMN by weight and protecting sensitive actives

Every formula runs through our development stages: brief, evidence review, formulation, bench samples, blind sensory panels, a pilot batch on production equipment, stability in the final pack, and scale-up. Each stage leaves a record you keep. Healthy ageing formulas add three controls of their own.

  • High-value actives. NMN, urolithin A and spermidine-rich extract are dispensed against the batch record and reconciled by weight, so every gram is accounted for.
  • Microgram nutrients. Vitamin D, vitamin K and vitamin B12 are pre-blended with part of the filler, with blend uniformity checked before filling.
  • Sensitive actives. Coenzyme Q10, vitamin K2 and polyphenol extracts degrade with light, heat or oxygen, so we specify protected grades, pack against light and confirm the values in stability studies.

Assays that follow the actives, batch by batch

Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) as part of every order and released by quality control against its specification; see testing and batch release. The panel follows the actives: assays by HPLC, heavy metals by ICP-MS and microbiology, with an active assay on every gummy batch as standard. Every batch comes with a certificate of analysis and a batch release confirmation, and development adds the formula, the specification with its test methods, stability data and a claims review for each market.

Research context for NAD+, urolithin A and spermidine

We specify every active by form, grade, marker compound and dose, screen it against the EU novel food catalogue and the FSA's register, and approve every supplier before any material is used. The science below is research context, not a product effect: claims come from the register.

NAD+ precursors: NMN and nicotinamide riboside

NAD+ is a coenzyme in energy metabolism, and its levels fall with age in several tissues in animals and humans (Covarrubias and colleagues, 2021). That finding drives demand for precursors such as NMN and nicotinamide riboside. As of October 2026, US supplements can use NMN under the new dietary ingredient rules, while it is not authorised in GB or the EU. For GB and the EU we build on nicotinamide riboside chloride or nicotinamide, both permitted forms of niacin, so labels can carry niacin's authorised claims, and we keep an NMN version ready while EU and GB rules on it are under review. See NAD+ and NMN supplement manufacturing.

Urolithin A and mitochondrial actives

Gut bacteria make urolithin A from ellagitannins and ellagic acid in fruits and nuts, and it is studied as an activator of mitophagy, the clearing of damaged mitochondria (Andreux and colleagues, 2019). Its human trials are small: two published in 2022 enrolled 66 adults aged 65 to 90 and 88 adults aged 40 to 64 (Liu and colleagues, 2022; Singh and colleagues, 2022). In the US, FDA had no questions about a GRAS notice for urolithin A in foods such as protein shakes and bars, and supplements follow the new dietary ingredient rules; it is not authorised in GB or the EU. See urolithin A supplement manufacturing. For every high-value active, the specification sets identity and assay tests, which accredited partner laboratories run on every batch. PQQ disodium salt is an authorised novel food in GB and the EU for food supplements at up to 20 mg a day, for adults excluding pregnant and lactating women.

Spermidine and autophagy

Spermidine, a polyamine in wheat germ, soybeans and nuts, is studied for its role in autophagy, the recycling of cell components (Madeo and colleagues, 2018). Human evidence is thin: in a 12-month trial in 100 older adults, spermidine from wheat germ extract did not improve memory performance against placebo (Schwarz and colleagues, 2022). In GB and the EU, spermidine-rich wheat germ extract is authorised for food supplements at the equivalent of up to 6 mg of spermidine a day, for adults excluding pregnant and lactating women. At the specified 0.8 to 2.4 mg of spermidine per gram, that cap equals 2.5 to 7.5 g of extract, so the assay decides the format.

Polyphenols: cocoa flavanols, resveratrol and botanical extracts

Cocoa flavanols carry an authorised claim that capsules and tablets can use: "Cocoa flavanols help maintain the elasticity of blood vessels, which contributes to normal blood flow". The product must supply at least 200 mg of cocoa flavanols a day, with a degree of polymerisation of 1 to 10, from high-flavanol cocoa extract, and consumers must be told that the effect comes with a daily intake of 200 mg. Trans-resveratrol is authorised in GB and the EU for adult food supplements at up to 150 mg a day; the EU allows any supplement form, while GB specifies capsules or tablets. Pomegranate, grape seed, berry and pine bark extracts have no authorised claims while EU botanical claims stay on hold, so we standardise each extract and let a nutrient carry the label.

Sulforaphane, alpha-ketoglutarate and biological age tests

Sulforaphane forms when the enzyme myrosinase acts on glucoraphanin from broccoli seeds and sprouts. Heat inactivates myrosinase, so formulas pair glucoraphanin with active myrosinase or use a stabilised form (Fahey and colleagues, 2015). Calcium alpha-ketoglutarate (Ca-AKG) draws mainly on mouse research (Asadi Shahmirzadi and colleagues, 2020). Neither has an authorised claim. No authorised claim refers to biological age, so in GB and the EU a product cannot claim to change a test result.

Why healthy ageing needs a specific authorised claim beside it

Claims follow the register, not the research: a longevity formula is limited to the claims of the nutrients it contains. We regard positioning such as "healthy ageing" as a general, non-specific benefit, which in GB and the EU may only be made if accompanied by a specific authorised claim. The table sets out the position as of October 2026, from the GB nutrition and health claims register, the EU register and US law.

Market Claims you can use What to avoid
Great Britain Authorised claims, in exact register wording (our practice; wording with the same meaning is allowed), with each nutrient at a source level: at least 15% of its nutrient reference value in the daily dose. "Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones" and "Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function"; "Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue"; calcium, vitamin K and magnesium for normal bones. "Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass" where at least 12% of the energy comes from protein. "Daily creatine consumption can enhance the effect of resistance training on muscle strength in adults over the age of 55", with 3 g of creatine a day and resistance training at least three times per week for several weeks, at an intensity of at least 65 to 75% of one repetition maximum, on foods for adults over 55 in regular resistance training. Cocoa flavanols at 200 mg a day. Claims about ageing, longevity, biological age, NAD+ or mitochondria, none of which is authorised. Medicinal claims. Wording that goes beyond a claim's meaning.
European Union The same wording and conditions from the EU register. The same, plus botanical claims, which remain on hold.
United States Structure and function claims backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence, notified to FDA and carrying FDA's standard disclaimer. Medicinal claims, which make a product a drug. NMN sold without meeting the new dietary ingredient notification requirement.

One formula can serve all three markets when it is built that way from the start. Start your project with your target markets, and we build the formula and the claims plan together.

NMN and urolithin A under review, and EU dose limits

As of October 2026, these are the points that change what healthy ageing brands can make, sell and claim. We review each line every quarter, and our regulation watch tracks the detail.

  • NMN and urolithin A. Both sell in US supplements today; neither is authorised in GB or the EU, where rules on both are under review, so we keep GB and EU versions ready.
  • EU vitamin and mineral limits. EU maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in food supplements are under review, so we keep vitamin K, magnesium and other doses in EU formulas ready to step down.

Questions brands ask

What does a longevity supplement manufacturer do?

A longevity supplement manufacturer develops and produces supplements for the healthy ageing market, from formulation to finished product. At British VitaTech that means choosing actives with human evidence, checking their novel food status in every target market, designing formats older adults can swallow and read, and writing the claims each market allows. We make capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and liquids in Leicester, prepare products for the UK, EU and US, and the brand owns the formula.

Can a supplement claim to slow ageing or support longevity?

Not in GB or the EU: as of October 2026, no authorised claim refers to slowing ageing, to longevity or to biological age. Labels rely on nutrient claims such as "Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function", and general wording about healthy ageing may only appear alongside a specific authorised claim. In the US, structure and function claims need competent and reliable evidence, a notification to FDA and FDA's standard disclaimer.

Can you make NMN supplements?

Yes, for the US today. As of October 2026, NMN can be used in US dietary supplements as a new dietary ingredient, so the notification requirement applies; we source NMN backed by a notification that covers your dose and format, or prepare one for your programme. NMN is not authorised in GB or the EU, so we build those versions on nicotinamide riboside chloride or nicotinamide; both are permitted forms of niacin, so labels can carry niacin's authorised claims.

Can you make urolithin A or spermidine supplements?

Spermidine, yes, within its conditions; urolithin A, for the US. As of October 2026, spermidine-rich wheat germ extract is authorised for food supplements in GB and the EU at the equivalent of up to 6 mg of spermidine a day, for adults excluding pregnant and lactating women. Urolithin A is not authorised in GB or the EU; in the US, FDA had no questions about a GRAS notice for urolithin A in foods such as protein shakes, and supplements follow the new dietary ingredient rules.

Which formats suit older adults?

Formats that are easy to swallow, open and read. FDA's guidance on generic tablets and capsules cites studies linking sizes above about 8 mm in diameter with more swallowing complaints and suggesting oval tablets may be easier to swallow than round ones. We design smaller capsules and tablets, powders and liquids for larger doses, and sugar-reduced gummies. In GB and the EU, mandatory label information needs an x-height of at least 1.2 mm on most packs, and we design larger where the pack allows.

Which authorised claims work for healthy ageing products?

Nutrient claims carry most healthy ageing labels. In GB and the EU, as of October 2026, examples include "Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones", "Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue" and, on foods that are at least a source of protein, "Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass". Creatine has a claim for adults over 55 in regular resistance training, at 3 g a day, and cocoa flavanols one at 200 mg a day.

Can a brand use biological age tests to market a supplement?

A brand can offer tests alongside a product, but in GB and the EU the product cannot claim to change the result. As of October 2026, no authorised claim refers to biological age, and ageing clocks remain research tools. What a brand can show is the product itself: every batch comes with a certificate of analysis for its actives, and we build products whose claims rest on authorised nutrient wording.
