GLP-1 support supplements built on protein, fibre and micronutrients

Our custom GLP-1 support supplements are nutrition products for people using GLP-1 medicines, built on protein, fibre, micronutrients and hydration, and we formulate and make them for brands in our Leicester facility. The name describes the customer, not an effect on GLP-1, so these products carry nutrient claims instead. We make protein powders and drink mixes with 15 to 30 g of protein in a small volume, fibre and electrolyte sticks, targeted micronutrient capsules, shots and gummies, and every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories. They sit within our weight management and metabolic health category.

In Britain, 6.3% of households include a GLP-1 user, up from 2.4% in 2024 (Worldpanel, August 2026), and users in BCG's nine-market survey say they will spend about 20% more on protein and fibre supplements and collagen (BCG, August 2026). A joint advisory from four US medical and nutrition societies puts nutrient status, management of side effects and muscle preservation through resistance training at the centre of nutrition for GLP-1 users (Mozaffarian and colleagues, 2025). Four groups of ingredients answer it.

Whey, milk and plant proteins

We work with whey protein isolate and hydrolysate, milk proteins, and plant proteins such as pea, rice, soy and faba, specified by protein content, amino acid profile and leucine. Plant blends balance each other: pea is low in methionine, rice in lysine. Collagen peptides count as protein on a label but contain no tryptophan, so we use them alongside complete proteins, never as the protein base. In a body composition study cited by the advisory, lean mass made up 38% of the weight lost on semaglutide, which the advisory estimates at about a fifth of the total loss as muscle.

Fibre

Native chicory inulin and oligofructose, partially hydrolysed guar gum, acacia gum, resistant dextrin, psyllium husk, glucomannan and oat beta-glucans each differ in fermentation speed, viscosity and tolerance. Those properties set the dose per serving and the digestive comfort of the finished product. Chicory inulin carries a bowel function claim at 12 g a day of native inulin with a mean chain length of 9 or more, so we split that across servings rather than load one.

Micronutrients

The advisory gives iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc and vitamins A, D, E, K, B1, B12 and C as examples of nutrients of concern. In an industry-funded analysis of US insurance claims for 461,382 adults newly prescribed GLP-1 medicines, most for blood sugar control, 22.4% had a nutrient gap diagnosed within 12 months, vitamin D most often (Butsch and colleagues, 2025). We build targeted multinutrients on that list, with forms chosen for absorption, taste and stability: iron bisglycinate, calcium citrate or carbonate, magnesium citrate or bisglycinate, zinc bisglycinate, vitamin D3, vitamin K2 and cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin.

Hydration and muscle support

Electrolyte blends of sodium, potassium and magnesium suit hydration routines, and magnesium carries the claim that it contributes to electrolyte balance. Creatine monohydrate pairs with resistance training: in GB and the EU, "Daily creatine consumption can enhance the effect of resistance training on muscle strength in adults over the age of 55", at 3 g a day with regular training.

Nutrient claims only, and no GLP-1 effect on any label or ad

As of October 2026, no authorised claim in GB or the EU refers to GLP-1, appetite, satiety or cravings, and no supplement may claim to enhance or replace a GLP-1 medicine. UK advertising rules regard claims of an effect on GLP-1 as medicinal, and comparisons with GLP-1 injections or claims to curb cravings as implying a prescription medicine's effects. Terms such as "natural GLP-1", "GLP-1 booster" or "natural Ozempic" have no place on a label or in an ad.

Market Claims you can use What to avoid
Great Britain "Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass" for products that are at least a source of protein; chicory inulin for normal bowel function at 12 g a day; magnesium for electrolyte balance; iron for the reduction of tiredness and fatigue; vitamin D for the maintenance of normal muscle function; meal replacement for maintenance of weight after weight loss. GLP-1 effects and medicine comparisons; the rate or amount of weight loss; recommendations by individual doctors.
European Union The same wording from the EU register (Regulation (EU) No 432/2012), with the same conditions. The same prohibitions, enforced by each member state.
United States Structure and function claims, such as protein to support muscle, backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence, notified to FDA and carrying FDA's standard disclaimer. Claims that a product substitutes for a medicine, augments a drug's action, or eases a medicine's adverse effects where those effects are medical conditions in their own right.

Botanicals sold as "natural GLP-1", such as berberine, carry the same claims risk and their own market rules, which our regulation watch page tracks. We are an FDA registered food facility for dietary supplements, and we prepare products and documents for the UK, the EU and the US. We check every label against each market's wording rules at artwork stage, before printing.

More nutrition per gram for people eating less

Dose for smaller servings

People using GLP-1 medicines eat less, so every serving must carry more nutrition per gram and per millilitre. The 2025 to 2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans set a goal of 1.2 to 1.6 g of protein per kilogram of body weight a day (USDA and HHS, January 2026), which is 84 to 112 g for a 70 kg adult. A 20 to 25 g protein serving in a small shake covers about a quarter of that. In GB and the EU, a "source of protein" claim needs at least 12% of the product's energy from protein, and "high protein" needs 20% (Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006).

Calcium, iron and bulky minerals

Calcium reduces iron absorption when the two are taken together, so we separate them by format or time of day. Calcium is bulky: the 800 mg reference value needs about 2.0 g of calcium carbonate, which is 40% calcium, or 3.8 g of calcium citrate, which is 21%, so meaningful calcium belongs in a powder, a chew or a split dose, not one capsule. Labels advise anyone taking medicines to speak to their doctor or pharmacist before use.

Browning, caking and vitamin losses

Protein powders brown and lose quality through the Maillard reaction when reducing sugars, heat and moisture meet, so we control water activity and choose non-reducing sweeteners. Inulin and other soluble fibres take up moisture and cake, so we specify low-humidity handling and barrier packs. Vitamin C degrades vitamin B12 in solution and iron speeds oxidation, so liquids keep them apart or protect them, and every labile vitamin carries an overage set from stability data.

Small shakes and sticks, plus capsules and shots for micronutrients

Smaller servings decide the format.

Protein, minerals and some fibres taste bitter, metallic or chalky, so every product goes through our flavour development and taste masking before launch.

Microgram pre-blends, moisture and milk allergen control

  1. Brief and claims plan. We agree the customer, the markets and the claims first, because claim conditions set the doses.
  2. Formulation and stability. We build bench samples, run sensory and taste masking work, and run stability studies with accredited partner laboratories to set shelf life and vitamin overages.
  3. Materials. Every material comes from a supplier that has passed our supplier approval, and is booked in against supplier and lot.
  4. Weigh and blend. Microgram nutrients such as vitamin D3 and B12 are pre-blended before the main mix, so every serving carries its dose.
  5. Fill and seal. Powders are filled by weight into tubs, pouches or sticks, with scoops sized to the blend; capsules are filled and packed into bottles with desiccants or blisters; liquids go into glass or PET shot bottles with tamper-evident caps. Fill weights and seal integrity are checked through the run.
  6. Label and release. Labels are verified on every batch as a critical control point, and every batch is released by quality control against its specification.

The critical steps are blend uniformity for microgram nutrients, moisture control for protein and fibre, control of milk and soy allergens under our allergen management plan, and the label check.

Proving the protein, fibre and vitamins on every label

Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) as part of every order, to a programme set per product and market, as our testing and batch release page explains.

  • Protein. GB and EU labels calculate protein as Kjeldahl nitrogen multiplied by 6.25. Nitrogen methods cannot tell protein from added amino acids or creatine, so we check the amino acid profile as well as total protein.
  • Fibre. Total dietary fibre by AOAC methods such as 2009.01, and fructans such as inulin by their own methods, so the label and the 12 g inulin claim match the pack.
  • Vitamins and minerals. HPLC for vitamins and ICP methods for minerals, against label claims and overages.
  • Contaminants. Lead, cadmium and mercury against EU limits (Regulation (EU) 2023/915), arsenic against the specification, and California Proposition 65 warning levels for products sold there.
  • Microbiology to the specification for each format.

Every batch is released by quality control against its specification, and nothing is dispatched without quality control sign-off. We keep three retained samples per batch for shelf life plus one year, and can run a full mock recall, forward and backward with mass balance, in seconds. You receive a certificate of analysis and batch release confirmation for every batch, the product specification, the stability report and our quality pack. We are ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size. Your formula is yours. Where this is going

To 2030

Up strongly: US users roughly double to 30 to 35 million by 2030 as pills and generics widen access; companion nutrition (protein, fibre, micronutrients, muscle) follows

To 2036

Up: the language shifts from 'GLP-1 support' to maintenance and off-ramp nutrition as the medicines commoditise

What to watch

Claims enforcement against drug-like positioning; cheaper, better-tolerated drugs could shrink the side-effect need

Questions brands ask

What are GLP-1 support supplements?

GLP-1 support supplements are nutrition products made for people taking GLP-1 medicines: the name describes the customer, not an effect on GLP-1. They focus on protein to help maintain muscle, fibre, the micronutrients users can fall short of, and hydration, in smaller servings for people who eat less. British VitaTech develops and manufactures them for brands, from formulation to finished product, with claims checked for each market.

Can a supplement claim to boost GLP-1 or work like the medicines?

No. No authorised claim in GB or the EU refers to GLP-1. UK advertising rules regard claims of an effect on GLP-1 as medicinal, and comparisons with GLP-1 injections or claims to curb cravings as implying a prescription medicine's effects. In the US, claims that a product substitutes for a medicine or augments its action are drug claims. Companion products carry authorised nutrient claims instead, and we check every label at artwork stage.

Which nutrients do GLP-1 companion products focus on?

Protein, fibre, micronutrients and hydration. A 2025 joint advisory from four US medical and nutrition societies gives iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc and vitamins A, D, E, K, B1, B12 and C as examples of nutrients of concern, and puts muscle preservation at the centre of nutrition for users. The 2025 to 2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans set a goal of 1.2 to 1.6 g of protein per kilogram a day, so servings must be dense.

Which claims can a GLP-1 companion product carry in the UK and EU?

Only authorised nutrient and fibre claims, used with their conditions. Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass when the product is at least a source of protein; chicory inulin contributes to normal bowel function at 12 g a day; magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance; iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue; and vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function. No authorised claim mentions GLP-1.

Which format works best for people eating smaller portions?

Small, dense servings work best. Protein powders and stick packs carry 15 to 30 g of protein in a small volume, capsules carry targeted micronutrients, and liquid shots deliver vitamins and minerals in a few mouthfuls. Calcium is bulky, so it belongs in a powder, a chew or a split dose. We make every format in our Leicester facility, which is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and capsules, gummies and liquids are GMP certified.

Can you make GLP-1 companion products for the US market?

Yes. We are an FDA registered food facility for dietary supplements, and we prepare products and documents for the US as well as the UK and EU. US labels carry structure and function claims, such as protein to support muscle, backed by competent and reliable evidence and FDA's standard disclaimer. Claims that a product replaces or enhances a GLP-1 medicine are drug claims, so every claim stays within structure and function.

Who owns the formula?

You do. Your formula is yours, including its specification and the data behind it. That applies to every GLP-1 companion product we develop for you, from the first bench sample to later updates when better ingredients or new rules arrive. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size, and our formula ownership page sets out how the commitment works.
