Practitioner supplements built for pharmacies and clinics

Pharmacies, practitioners and clinics can have practitioner supplements developed and made in our Leicester facility, as custom or private label ranges, from formulation to finished product. Ranges take in capsules, tablets, mini and orodispersible tablets, chewables, effervescent tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays, with forms and doses set from the evidence and within each market's legal limits. Every range comes with the documents a professional checks: the product specification, a certificate of analysis for every batch, the authorised claims each market allows and a summary of the human studies behind each form and dose.

Two people to satisfy: the practitioner and the patient

Practitioner supplements carry a professional's recommendation, so they have to satisfy two people: the practitioner, who checks the forms, doses and evidence, and the patient, who has to take the product every day. Community and online pharmacies, nutrition and functional medicine practitioners, aesthetic clinics and longevity services need four things from a manufacturer: evidence-led formulas, effective doses within legal limits, formats patients find easy to take, and documents a professional can check.

There is no legal "practitioner grade": a practitioner range is a food supplement like any other, whoever recommends it. So we define the grade by what can be checked: forms and doses matched to the human research, the identity of every ingredient lot confirmed before use, every batch tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) as part of every order and released by quality control against its specification, and a certificate of analysis a professional can read. We make food supplements, not licensed medicines, and build every formula to stay on the food side of that line.

How a practitioner range is built, from evidence review to release

Evidence-led formulas

Our evidence review asks one question per ingredient: does the human research on this material, at this dose, in this population, support the role it plays in the formula? A trial on a standardised extract does not transfer to a raw powder of the same plant, and some probiotic benefits are specific to the strain studied, so we specify the material behind the research. Where a branded ingredient carries the studies, we match its dose and licence terms, as our page on branded and clinically studied ingredients explains. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size. Your formula is yours, and so is the evidence file behind it.

From brief to first batch

  1. Brief: your patient group, setting and markets.
  2. Formula: forms, doses and overages set from the evidence and each market's limits.
  3. Samples: bench samples in your chosen format, to try for taste, size and serving.
  4. Stability: a study in the final pack sets the shelf life.
  5. Label and claims: authorised claims in their exact wording, dosing directions, required warnings and a medicines borderline check.
  6. Release: every batch tested by accredited partner laboratories and released by quality control, with its certificate of analysis.

Effective doses within legal limits

Professionals want the dose used in the research, and each market sets its own ceiling. As of October 2026, the UK sets no legal maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in food supplements, the EU has no harmonised maximum levels, so national limits apply, and US federal law stops FDA from setting maximum potency limits for vitamins and minerals, with limited exceptions such as products for children. We set every dose against these limits and against EFSA's upper levels for adults, such as 100 µg a day of vitamin D and 12 mg a day of vitamin B6. Dose can also make a supplement a medicine: the MHRA's published position is that products with 1,178 mg a day or more of base glucosamine are medicines, so we design UK glucosamine products below that level.

Claims beside medicines

In a pharmacy or clinic, a supplement sits beside licensed medicines, and its presentation decides which side of the line it falls. As of October 2026, the MHRA judges the whole presentation: labels, packs and graphics, the product form and how it is taken, promotional literature and testimonials, and marketing such as recommendations by doctors or health professionals or comparisons with licensed medicines, as its guidance on borderline products sets out. In the UK and the EU, health claims may not refer to recommendations of individual doctors or health professionals, and the claims rules cover materials written only for professionals just as they cover the label. In the US, the FTC expects an expert's endorsement to rest on a real exercise of that expertise.

So the detail aid, the clinic leaflet and the practitioner web page use the same authorised claims as the label, in their exact wording with their conditions of use, or US structure/function claims with FDA's disclaimer. We review every formula and pack against the MHRA's criteria before artwork is signed off, and our page on claims, evidence and regulation by market sets out the method.

Ranges for clinics and longevity services

Clinics want ranges under their own name that fit their consultations. Aesthetic clinics pair beauty-from-within formulas with their skin services, and longevity services build protocols around NAD+ precursors, spermidine and polyphenols. As of October 2026, nicotinamide riboside chloride, spermidine-rich wheat germ extract, PQQ disodium salt and trans-resveratrol are authorised for food supplements in the UK and the EU, each with conditions of use. NMN and urolithin A are not yet authorised in either; we make NMN products for the US, where NMN can be sold in dietary supplements under the new dietary ingredient rules. Easy-to-take formats for each pharmacy and clinic setting

Patients keep taking what is easy to take. FDA's guidance on generic tablets and capsules cites studies linking tablets larger than about 8 mm in diameter with more complaints that they are hard to swallow, and recommends that a tablet's largest dimension not exceed 22 mm and that capsules not exceed a standard 00 size (FDA, 2022). Shoppers are moving too: in France, gummies fell 5% in pharmacies in 2025, while orodispersible tablets grew 43% (IQVIA France, April 2026). We make capsules, tablets, mini and orodispersible tablets, chewables, effervescent tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays in-house in Leicester; capsules, gummies and liquids are GMP certified.

Setting Ranges that fit Formats patients find easy
Community and online pharmacy Everyday vitamins and minerals, women's health, gut health Mini tablets, capsules, effervescent tablets, gummies
Nutrition and functional medicine practice Single nutrients in chosen forms, targeted blends Capsules, powders and liquids for flexible serving sizes
Aesthetic clinics Beauty from within, such as collagen with vitamin C Powders, shots, gummies
Longevity services NAD+ precursors, spermidine, creatine and protein Capsules, sachets and stick packs
Sports performance clinics Creatine, protein, electrolytes, collagen Powders, stick packs, shots

How we make them easy to take

Mini and orodispersible tablets need tight control of weight, hardness and disintegration; chewables and liquids need taste masking that holds through shelf life; effervescent tablets are made at low humidity and packed in tubes with a drying agent in the closure or in foil strips; gummies get an active assay on every batch as standard. Bottles come in HDPE, PET or glass with induction seals and desiccant where the fill needs it, and blisters give unit-dose packs a pharmacy can hand over.

A documentation pack a professional can check

British VitaTech is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered. Our status: BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. Labels are verified on every batch as the critical control point in our HACCP study, a full mock recall with mass balance runs in seconds, and we keep three retained samples per batch for shelf life plus one year, as our page on supplement testing and batch release explains.

Documents for professionals

Every pharmacy, practitioner and clinic range comes with a professional documentation pack:

  • A product specification: each ingredient's form and amount per daily serving, with vitamins and minerals as a percentage of the nutrient reference value
  • A certificate of analysis for every batch, naming the laboratory, method, result and limit
  • The authorised claims each market allows, in their exact wording, with conditions of use
  • Label warnings and the population each product is for, such as adults only where a novel food authorisation requires it
  • Allergen and dietary status, with halal, vegan, organic or kosher certification arranged for your product
  • A summary of the human studies behind each form and dose, written within the claims rules

Questions brands ask

What does practitioner grade mean?

There is no legal "practitioner grade", so we define it by what a professional can check. Forms and doses match the human research, the identity of every ingredient lot is confirmed before use, and every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories as part of every order and released by quality control against its specification. Each batch has a certificate of analysis, and British VitaTech is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered.

Can practitioner supplements carry higher doses?

They can carry the dose the evidence supports, within each market's limits. As of October 2026, the UK sets no legal maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in food supplements, the EU has no harmonised maximum levels, so national limits apply, and US federal law stops FDA from setting maximum potency limits, with limited exceptions. Dose can also make a product a medicine: the MHRA's published position is that products with 1,178 mg a day or more of base glucosamine are medicines.

Can materials for professionals make stronger claims than the label?

No. As of October 2026, in the UK and the EU, the claims rules cover materials written only for health professionals just as they cover the label, and health claims may not refer to recommendations of individual doctors or health professionals. So detail aids, clinic leaflets and practitioner web pages use the same authorised claims as the label, in their exact wording. In the US, structure/function claims carry FDA's disclaimer, and experts must actually apply their expertise before endorsing a product.

What documents do you provide for professionals?

Every pharmacy, practitioner and clinic range comes with a professional documentation pack. It holds the product specification, with each form and amount per daily serving and nutrient reference value percentages, a certificate of analysis for every batch, the authorised claims each market allows with their conditions of use, label warnings and the intended population, allergen and dietary status, and a summary of the human studies behind each form and dose, written within the claims rules.

Which formats suit patients who dislike large tablets?

Smaller units and formats that avoid a large tablet suit them. FDA's guidance on generic tablets and capsules recommends that a tablet's largest dimension not exceed 22 mm and that capsules not exceed a standard 00 size. We make mini, orodispersible, chewable and effervescent tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays in Leicester. In France, orodispersible tablets grew 43% in 2025 (IQVIA France), a sign of where shoppers are going.

Can you make ranges for longevity and aesthetic clinics?

Yes, within what each market authorises. As of October 2026, nicotinamide riboside chloride, spermidine-rich wheat germ extract, PQQ disodium salt and trans-resveratrol are authorised for food supplements in the UK and the EU, each with conditions of use. NMN and urolithin A are not yet authorised in either, and we make NMN products for the US. Aesthetic clinics build beauty-from-within ranges on collagen and nutrients with authorised claims, made in Leicester under the clinic's own name.
