Own label supplements for retailers, pharmacies and distributors
Own label supplements for retailers, pharmacy chains, wholesalers and distributors are made in our Leicester facility, from formulation to finished, labelled stock for the UK, the EU and the US. Ranges take in capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays, oral pouches and functional drinks, planned with you in core, growth and premium tiers, then packed, coded and cased to your specification. Every product comes with its finished product specification, a certificate of analysis for every batch, stability data and the product data your listing systems need.
Six questions retail technical teams ask every supplier
Own label supplements put a retailer's or distributor's name on the pack, and with it responsibility for everything the label says. Retail technical teams and distributors ask the same questions of every supplier:
- Ownership: is the formula ours, and exclusive to our range?
- Standards: does the site hold the certificates our supplier approval needs?
- Consistency: will the hundredth batch match the first?
- Documents: can we see the specification, test results and traceability behind every batch?
- Supply: will stock arrive packed, coded and cased the way our warehouses need it?
- Markets: will the label be legal everywhere we sell?
Brand owners should start with our guide to private label supplements.
Planning a retail range in core, growth and premium tiers
Category planning
We plan the range with you before we formulate a single product, usually in three tiers:
- Core: everyday vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin D, magnesium and multivitamins, specified to stand beside the brands on your shelf. Across 17 European countries, private label took a 38.8% value share of sales in 2025, on NielsenIQ data for the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA, 2026); the figure spans the categories NielsenIQ tracks, not supplements alone.
- Growth: categories where shoppers are moving, such as creatine, electrolytes, gut health and beauty from within. Beauty supplements grew 13% in Europe in 2025, on IQVIA data reported by Puntoeffe (May 2026).
- Premium: formulas built on branded and clinically studied ingredients, at the doses used in the research.
One plan lets products share approved materials, test plans and label layouts, so the shelf reads as one brand. Our guide to the supplement categories we develop covers the evidence and rules for each. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size.
Formulas exclusive to your range
Your formula is yours. Every formula we develop for your range, its specification and the data behind it belong to you, and we never sell it or offer it to another customer. The barcode follows the same logic: under GS1's numbering rules, the brand owner, the company that owns a product's specification, is normally responsible for its GTIN "regardless of where and by whom it is manufactured", and a retailer selling a product under its own brand is that brand owner. Read how formula ownership works with us.
Specifications and sign-off
Each product runs on a finished product specification you approve: the formula, the label claims, the checks quality control runs on every batch and the laboratory tests set for your markets. You sign off the sample, the specification, the label and the first batch, and nothing changes afterwards without your written approval. We supply samples for your range review, complete your technical specifications and supplier approval questionnaires with you, and welcome your technical team to audit our Leicester facility before you list.
Keeping the range current
We review the range with you and propose formula updates when ingredients improve or market conditions shift. Each change runs through the same specification, stability and sign-off steps as a new product, so nothing reaches your shelf untested.
Distributors and export
As of October 2026, an EU label must be in a language consumers in each market understand, a brand based outside the EU needs its EU importer named on the pack, and many member states ask to be notified, with a copy of the label, when a supplement goes on sale. We build labels in the languages each market requires, prepare the notification file and supply the specification, certificates of analysis and stability summary a distributor keeps on file. For the US, we build the Supplement Facts panel and the "Distributed by" line that goes before your name when someone else makes the product.
A UK pouch brand, a client since 2023, grew from a small brand to over 30,000 units a month. Our R&D team developed four distinct formulas for it, we guided it through regulatory and compliance checks as it expanded into Europe, the USA and Mexico, and we split shipments across its fulfilment partners. In the brand's words: "They've felt less like a supplier and more like a partner in the business."
Which format suits each retail range, and what buyers check
We make capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays, oral pouches and functional drinks in-house in Leicester; capsules, gummies, pouches and liquids are GMP certified. Retail ranges map onto them like this:
| Range | Formats that suit | What the buyer checks |
|---|---|---|
| Core vitamins and minerals | Capsules, tablets, gummies | Declared amounts and NRV percentages that hold to the end of shelf life |
| Sports and active nutrition | Powders, stick packs, capsules | The 3 g of creatine a day the authorised performance claim needs; Informed Sport certification arranged for your product |
| Gut health and beauty from within | Capsules, powders, gummies, liquids | Named strains, live culture counts to the end of shelf life, authorised claims only |
| Premium and branded | Capsules, powders, liquids and shots | Licence terms and the amount per serving that earns the ingredient's name |
| Pharmacy own brand | Tablets, capsules, liquids | Packs and wording that stay clearly on the food side of the line beside medicines |
Packed for the shelf and the warehouse
We pack every product in Leicester to your retail specification. Capsules and tablets go into HDPE, PET or glass bottles with induction seals for tamper evidence and desiccant where the fill needs it, or into blisters; gummies into jars or resealable pouches; powders into tubs and pouches; sachets and stick packs into cartons; liquids and shots into bottles. Every unit carries its batch code and best before date. Outer cases carry your case barcode, batch code and best before date, with case quantities and pallet patterns set to your distribution centres' requirements.

Retailer standards, batch consistency and the documents buyers get
Retailer standards
British VitaTech is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered, with each scope set out on our quality and accreditations page. Our status: BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. BRCGS Food Safety is benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and retailers use GFSI-recognised certificates to approve suppliers; our guide to BRCGS certification explains the audit. Once certified, our certificate, grade and scope will be available to buyers on request. Where your sourcing policy calls for an ethical trade audit, such as SMETA, we arrange one for your programme.
Batch-to-batch consistency
Every material comes from a supplier approved before use, and we confirm the identity of each ingredient lot before it enters production. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) as part of every order and released by quality control against the same specification; nothing is dispatched without quality control sign-off. Labels are verified on every batch as the critical control point in our HACCP study, and we check every new barcode for scan quality before first production. We trend each product's results from batch to batch, so drift shows long before it nears a limit. Stability studies in the final pack set the shelf life and any overage, so declared amounts stay within the EU's labelling tolerances for food supplements to the best before date: plus 50% to minus 20% for vitamins, plus 45% to minus 20% for minerals.

Questions brands ask
Do you make own label supplements for retailers and distributors?
Yes. We develop and make own label supplement ranges for retailers, pharmacy chains, wholesalers and distributors in our Leicester facility, from formulation to finished, labelled stock for the UK, the EU and the US. We make capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, sachets and stick packs, liquids, shots and sprays, oral pouches and functional drinks in-house. Every formula we develop for your range belongs to you, and we never offer it to another customer.
Who owns the formula in an own label range?
You do. Your formula is yours: every formula we develop for your range, its specification and the data behind it belong to you, and we never sell it or offer it to another customer. That matches GS1's barcode rules, where the brand owner, the company that owns a product's specification, is normally responsible for allocating its GTIN wherever the product is made. Nothing in your formula changes without your written approval.
Do you hold BRCGS certification?
BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. Today, British VitaTech is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered, and we share our quality pack under confidentiality: BSI certificates, a HACCP summary and a worked traceability example. Once certified, our BRCGS certificate, grade and scope will be available to buyers on request, and your technical team is welcome to audit our Leicester facility before you list.
How do you keep every batch consistent?
We control consistency from goods-in to dispatch. Materials come only from approved suppliers, and we confirm the identity of each ingredient lot before use. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories as part of every order and released by quality control against the same specification, labels are verified on every batch, and we trend results from batch to batch. Stability studies set the shelf life, so declared amounts hold to the best before date.
What documents do retail buyers receive?
You receive what a supplier approval file asks for: finished product and raw material specifications, a certificate of analysis for every batch, batch release confirmation with full traceability, stability data, allergen information, a claims and label review for each market and product data for your listing systems. Our quality pack adds BSI certificates, a HACCP summary, a worked traceability example and our £5m product liability insurance with worldwide cover.
Can you prepare products for distributors in the EU and the US?
Yes. As of October 2026, EU labels must be in a language consumers in each market understand, a brand based outside the EU needs its EU importer named on the pack, and many member states ask for notification with a copy of the label. We build labels in the required languages, prepare the notification file and supply the documents distributors keep on file. For the US, we build the Supplement Facts panel and the "Distributed by" line that goes before your name.
Can you pack to our retail and warehouse requirements?
Yes. We pack every product in Leicester to your retail specification: bottles with induction seals and desiccant where the fill needs it, blisters, jars, resealable pouches, tubs, and cartons of sachets and stick packs. Every unit carries its batch code and best before date, and outer cases carry your case barcode, batch code and best before date, with case quantities and pallet patterns set to your distribution centres' requirements. We check every new barcode for scan quality before first production.
