Our certifications: ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP, certified by BSI

British VitaTech is a GMP certified supplement manufacturer for premium wellness brands. We are ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered. Our BSI certificates are public and each scope is specific, so you can check exactly what we are certified to make before you brief us. As a contract manufacturer of custom and private label supplements and cosmetics, we run these credentials as daily working systems at our Leicester facility, not certificates on a wall.

What ISO 9001 means for a supplement manufacturer

ISO 9001 certifies how a business runs, not a single product. It requires documented processes, controlled records, internal audits, management review, corrective action and risk-based planning. BSI, itself accredited by UKAS, audits our system against ISO 9001:2015 under certificate FS 822806. The scope covers liquids, pouches, cosmetics and edibles, and our skincare and cosmetic manufacturing runs under this ISO 9001 system.

HACCP and GMP: food safety for capsules, gummies, pouches and liquids

Our second BSI certificate, HACCP 827076, covers food safety. BSI audits us against its HACCP and GMP certification criteria, which are built on the Codex Alimentarius General Principles of Food Hygiene. That Codex text sets out good hygiene practices and the seven HACCP principles: hazard analysis, critical control points, validated critical limits, monitoring, corrective action, validation and verification, and records. The scope names four formats, and those formats are GMP certified: capsule manufacturing, gummy manufacturing, functional pouch manufacturing and liquid supplement manufacturing. Tablets, softgels, powders, sachets and stick packs, bars, drinks, functional coffee and tea, liposomal formats and gum are made in the same Leicester facility, which is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI.

FDA registered food facility

We are an FDA registered food facility for dietary supplements: the registration US law requires of facilities that manufacture food, including dietary supplements, for consumption in the US. Registration is not an approval or a certification, and FDA states that it "does not issue a certificate of registration or product status". We keep our registration current and its number confidential, and share the number with brands in our quality pack.

BRCGS: the next standard

Our status: BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. BRCGS Food Safety is a GFSI-benchmarked standard that many retailers ask own-label suppliers to hold. Our guide to BRCGS certification explains the audit, the grades and what the certificate means for your range.

What a GMP certified supplement manufacturer means for your brand

Your brand name goes on the label, so you answer for what is inside the pack. Your manufacturer's credentials are the evidence that you chose well. In Great Britain, the Food Safety Act 1990 gives a defence to a business that "took all reasonable precautions and exercised all due diligence" (as of October 2026). Independent certificates, HACCP records and traceability data from your manufacturer form part of that evidence.

Faster buyer approval

Retail buyers, distributors and marketplaces run supplier checks before they list a product. They ask for certificate copies, scopes and expiry dates, then verify them. Our BSI certificates sit in BSI's public directory, so a buyer can confirm the number, the scope and the dates directly with the certification body. That removes a common source of delay in onboarding. Your QA team, or your retailer's auditor, can also audit our Leicester facility, and we answer supplier questionnaires with the evidence behind each answer.

Formats and markets matched to scope

Scope decides what a certificate proves. A gummy, capsule, pouch or liquid supplement falls inside our HACCP and GMP scope. For supplements sold in the US, food facility registration is a legal requirement for the manufacturer, and, as of October 2026, the prior notice filed before each US shipment asks for the manufacturer's registration number, which we give your importer in confidence. We prepare products and documents for the UK, the EU and the US, and our clients sell across Europe, the USA and Mexico.

Risk you can see

Due diligence also means knowing what happens if something goes wrong. We trace any batch from supplier lot to customer in seconds, we keep retained samples from every batch, and we hold £5m product liability insurance with worldwide cover.

How it works at our facility

Our quality system runs on a purpose-built digital platform that records every stage as it happens. A batch's full quality record exists the moment the batch is made, not after the fact.

A HACCP study for every product type

We run a HACCP study for each product type, reviewed annually and on any significant change. Each study follows the process flow: reception and storage, weighing, mixing, filling, labelling, packing, storage and dispatch. The critical control point is labelling: every batch's labels are verified before release for ingredient accuracy, allergen declarations and batch coding. Internal and third-party audits, product testing and customer feedback monitoring verify that the system works. Prerequisite programmes cover hygiene, pest control, waste, calibration and training.

Supplier approval

No material enters production from an unapproved source. New suppliers submit their certifications (BRCGS, ISO 9001 or GMP), certificates of analysis or specifications, safety data sheets, allergen declarations, HACCP or food safety plan, quality policy and insurance. We risk assess each supplier by material criticality, country of origin, food safety risk and history, and approved suppliers go onto our Approved Supplier List. We review every supplier annually, or immediately after a non-conformance.

Allergen control

Our allergen management plan maps all 14 regulated allergens in an allergen matrix. Yellow is our dedicated allergen colour: equipment, utensils, cleaning tools and PPE that contact allergens are yellow. Allergens are handled in defined allergen zones and kept in sealed, separated storage. We use dedicated equipment, with validated cleaning where sharing is needed. Non-allergen products run first, with line clearance between runs. We verify cleaning by visual check, swabbing or allergen test kit, and allergen training runs every year.

Quality control and release

Quality control runs in-process and finished checks on every batch, releases every batch against its specification, and nothing is dispatched without QC sign-off. Any non-conformance closes only with sign-off from both QA and Operations. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025), and batch testing is part of every order, as our page on supplement testing and batch release explains. Gummies get an active assay on every batch as standard.

Traceability and mock recall

Our traceability chain links the supplier lot and its certificate of analysis, the recipe, the production job (machine and named operators), the batch and its materials, quality control and dispatch. Start from any batch, order, goods-in record, product, supplier or customer and the whole chain opens in seconds. That includes a full mock recall, forward and backward, with mass balance: the quantity of each material received is reconciled against what went into product, what remains in stock and what was wasted.

Retained samples

We keep three retained samples from every batch for the product's shelf life plus one year. If a question arises in the market, the retained sample from that exact batch is there to examine.

Documentation you receive

We share evidence before you commit and alongside your orders.

  • Our quality pack: copies of our BSI certificates, a HACCP summary and a worked traceability example, shared under confidentiality.
  • FDA registration details: our registration number, shared in confidence for brands selling in the US.
  • Product specification: the agreed specification each batch of your product is released against.
  • Batch release: QC sign-off for each batch, with the batch code that opens its full traceability record.
  • Certificates of analysis: from our accredited partner laboratories for every batch.
  • Allergen information: the allergen status of your product, drawn from our allergen matrix.
  • Quality agreement: a written agreement with your QA team that sets out who is responsible for the specification, testing, release, complaints and recalls.
  • Change notice: we tell you before any change to a material, supplier or process that affects your product.

Request our quality pack to see the full set before your first order.

Certifications arranged for your product

Halal, vegan, organic and kosher certification are arranged for your product with the relevant certification body. The certifier assesses your product, its recipe and how it is made. We supply the ingredient documents, process records and site access it asks for, and our supplier approval and traceability records make that evidence quick to assemble.

Non-GMO and allergen-free products

Non-GMO and allergen-free claims start at formulation. We specify materials backed by supplier declarations, and our allergen management plan protects the claim in production. Where a claim needs proof in the finished product, such as a gluten-free claim, we build the test into your testing plan.

What we are putting in place next: BRCGS and ISO 9001:2026

BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. It adds a GFSI-benchmarked food safety certificate to our BSI certificates: a credential many retail buyers ask own-label suppliers to hold.

ISO published ISO 9001:2026 on 16 September 2026, with greater emphasis on leadership, a culture of quality and ethical behaviour. Our current certificate runs to 2 April 2028, and we recertify to the 2026 edition at renewal.

Questions brands ask

Is British VitaTech a GMP certified supplement manufacturer?

Yes. British VitaTech is HACCP and GMP certified by BSI under certificate HACCP 827076, valid to 22 July 2028, for food supplements packed in capsules, gummies, pouches and liquids. Tablets, softgels, powders, sachets and stick packs, bars, drinks, functional coffee and tea, liposomal formats and gum are made in the same Leicester facility, and our skincare and cosmetics work runs under our ISO 9001 certificate, FS 822806. Both certificates can be checked in BSI's online directory.

Is FDA registered the same as FDA approval?

No. FDA registration is the food facility registration US law requires of facilities that manufacture food, including dietary supplements, for consumption in the US. Registration is not an approval or a certification, and FDA states that it does not issue a certificate of registration. We are an FDA registered food facility for dietary supplements, and we share our registration number with brands in our quality pack rather than publishing it.

Does British VitaTech hold BRCGS certification?

Not yet: BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027. Today we are ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered. BRCGS adds a GFSI-benchmarked food safety certificate with graded audits and unannounced visits, which many retailers ask own-label suppliers to hold. Our BRCGS page explains what the audit covers and what it means for your range.

Can you make halal, vegan, organic or kosher supplements?

Yes. Halal, vegan, organic and kosher certification are arranged for your product with the relevant certification body. The certifier assesses your product, its recipe and how it is made, and we supply the ingredient documents, process records and site access it asks for. Our supplier approval and traceability records make that evidence quick to assemble, so certification runs alongside development.

How do you control allergens in production?

We run an allergen management plan that maps all 14 regulated allergens in an allergen matrix. Equipment, utensils, cleaning tools and PPE that contact allergens are colour coded yellow. Allergens sit in defined zones and sealed, separated storage, and non-allergen products run first with line clearance. We verify cleaning by visual check, swabbing or allergen test kit, and allergen training runs every year.

What quality documents can we see before we commit?

You can request our quality pack: copies of our BSI certificates, a HACCP summary and a worked traceability example, shared under confidentiality. It also holds our FDA registration details for brands selling in the US. With your orders you receive the product specification, QC batch release and a certificate of analysis from our accredited partner laboratories for every batch. Ask for it through our contact page.

How quickly can you trace a batch or run a recall?

In seconds. Our digital quality platform links supplier lot and certificate of analysis, recipe, production job, batch, quality control and dispatch. Start from any batch, order, goods-in record, product, supplier or customer and the whole chain opens, including a full mock recall, forward and backward, with mass balance. We also keep three retained samples from every batch for shelf life plus one year.
