A vitamin manufacturer that doses between source and upper levels
Built on authorised claims and the dose rules of every market you sell in, the custom vitamin and mineral supplements we develop and make as a vitamin manufacturer for premium brands go from the first formula to the finished product at our Leicester facility. We make single nutrients such as vitamins D3 and B12, zinc and iron, multivitamins and targeted multinutrients, immune blends, children's ranges and whole-food formulas with greens, sea moss or bee products, as capsules, tablets, gummies, liquids and drops, effervescent tablets, powders, sachets, stick packs and softgels. Every nutrient is dosed between the source level its claim needs and EFSA's upper level. Your brand owns the formula.
Everyday health is one of our supplement categories. We set doses comfortably under the strictest market's limits, so one formula can serve the UK, the EU and the US, and every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories.
Vitamin brands are moving to targeted multis and active forms
Brands in this category are building five kinds of product.
- Targeted multinutrients. Formulas for a life stage or a need, such as adults over 50, women, men or people using GLP-1 medicines, in place of one generic multi. Our multivitamin manufacturing page covers forms, overages and formats.
- Active forms. Vitamin D3 with vitamin K2 (menaquinone), and B complexes built on methylcobalamin and calcium L-methylfolate, where the form on the label sells as much as the dose.
- Immune blends. Vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc and selenium, sometimes with elderberry, worded strictly within the authorised claims.
- Children's gummies and drops. Vitamin D and multivitamins built to lower upper levels and tighter marketing rules.
- Whole-food formats. Greens, sea moss, bee products and bone broth, where any claim comes from added nutrients. See greens powder manufacturing.
Our omega-3 supplement manufacturing page covers fish, algal and krill oils. B vitamins, iron and magnesium also anchor our energy supplements. Each is a bespoke formula: your forms, your doses and your claims. Your formula is yours.
Permitted forms for every nutrient, from vitamin D3 to selenium
We specify every nutrient by form, grade and dose from Great Britain's list of permitted forms and the EU's, and screen every other ingredient against the GB and EU novel food lists in-house. Our ingredient library lists what we formulate with.
Vitamin D
The NHS advises everyone to consider a daily 10 microgram vitamin D supplement in autumn and winter, and children aged 1 to 4 to take one all year round. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) raised blood vitamin D status more effectively than D2 (ergocalciferol) in a meta-analysis of seven trials, most clearly at large, infrequent doses (Tripkovic and colleagues, 2012). We source D3 from lanolin, or from lichen for vegan products. EFSA's upper level is 100 µg a day for adults and children aged 11 to 17, and 50 µg for children aged 1 to 10 (EFSA, 2023). A 25 µg dose is a fortieth of a milligram, so we use a stabilised dry grade of vitamin D3 and confirm the content of every batch by HPLC.
B vitamins
Vitamin B12 comes as cyanocobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, methylcobalamin or 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin, and folate as folic acid, calcium L-methylfolate or a methylfolate glucosamine salt, all permitted forms in GB and the EU. "Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue" needs only a source level: 0.375 µg, 15% of the 2.5 µg reference value. Vitamin B6 needs restraint, because EFSA set its adult upper level at 12 mg a day (EFSA, 2023).
Zinc, selenium and other minerals
Zinc and selenium carry wide sets of authorised claims. EFSA's adult upper levels are 25 mg of zinc and 255 µg of selenium a day. We choose forms such as zinc bisglycinate, zinc citrate and L-selenomethionine for absorption, taste and the label, and balance zinc against iron and copper, which compete with it for absorption.
Immune support
Immune formulas rest on the register's wording, such as "Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system" and "Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system"; zinc and selenium carry the same wording. "Vitamin C contributes to maintain the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise" needs a daily intake of 200 mg and a statement that the effect comes on top of the recommended daily intake. CAP's guidance accepts "supports" and "helps" in UK ads, not "boosts", "strengthens", "stimulates" or "optimises" (CAP, 2020). Elderberry and echinacea carry no authorised claim in GB or the EU, because botanical claims remain on hold.
Kids' and teens' health
Children's products sit under tighter rules. Doses follow EFSA's upper levels by age band, which run well below adult values. Claims on children's development are a separate authorised group: "Vitamin D is needed for normal growth and development of bone in children" applies to products that are at least a source of vitamin D. In the US, iron supplements in solid forms, gummies included, carry FDA's accidental-overdose warning. New York bans sales of supplements marketed for weight loss or muscle building to under-18s, and California adds a similar ban from 1 January 2027, so we keep teen ranges clear of that positioning. Children's gummies get the same active assay on every batch as adult ranges, and drops are checked on the final dropper so each drop carries its stated dose.
Men's health and testosterone
Zinc holds the authorised testosterone claim: "Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood". Fertility formulas use "Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction" and "Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis", each from a source level. Botanicals sold as testosterone boosters carry no authorised claim in GB or the EU, so we build men's formulas on authorised claims.
Thyroid support
"Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function" and "Selenium contributes to the normal thyroid function" each need only a source level: 22.5 µg of iodine or 8.25 µg of selenium, 15% of the reference values. The adult upper level for iodine is 600 µg a day (EFSA overview of upper levels, 2025), and kelp varies widely in iodine, so we specify iodine per daily dose and assay it on every batch.
Bee products
Royal jelly, bee pollen and propolis sell as capsules, sprays and sachets. None carries an authorised health claim in GB or the EU, so claims come from added nutrients such as vitamin C. Propolis varies with the plants bees forage, so we specify each extract by its marker compounds and test every batch for identity, heavy metals and pesticide residues.
Sea moss
Sea moss, sold as Irish moss (Chondrus crispus) and related red seaweeds, comes as gels, capsules and gummies. Species decides status: in the EU, Chondrus crispus is not novel in food, and Gracilaria gracilis, Eucheuma denticulatum and Eucheuma horridum are not novel in food supplements (European Commission, 2024). Seaweeds can carry high levels of iodine and heavy metals, so we specify species and harvest area, and test iodine, inorganic arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury on every batch.
Spirulina, chlorella and moringa
Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) and Chlorella vulgaris anchor many greens blends and are listed as not novel in food in the EU (European Commission, 2024). The EU novel food catalogue lists moringa leaves, pods and seeds as not novel in food, and moringa seed oil as not novel in food supplements; we specify the leaf and screen any extract separately. Algae grown in open ponds can pick up toxins from other species, so spirulina batches get a microcystin test alongside metals and microbiology.
Bone broth
Bone broth powders build on protein and collagen. Claims come from protein, such as "Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass" for products at least a source of protein, never from collagen, which holds no authorised claim.
Why most vitamins suit every format we make
Most vitamins and minerals work at milligram or microgram doses, so they suit every format we make.
- Capsules and tablets carry multi-nutrient formulas compactly. Capsules are GMP certified, and we make tablets in the same Leicester facility; see capsule and tablet manufacturing.
- Gummies suit vitamin D, B12, folic acid and children's ranges, and are GMP certified, with an active assay on every batch as standard. Calcium and magnesium need more room than a gummy offers; see gummy manufacturing.
- Liquids, drops and sprays deliver vitamin D and B12 in measured microgram doses, and our liquids are GMP certified.
- Effervescent tablets dissolve vitamin C and B vitamins into a drink, made in Leicester.
- Powders, sachets and stick packs carry greens, bone broth and gram doses of minerals.
- Softgels hold oil-based vitamins A, D, E and K, made in Leicester.
We are ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI, and FDA registered. BRCGS implementation under way, certification expected in early 2027.
How we make and release them
Development runs as a paid R&D stage, which can be included with an order of the right size: bench samples first, then stability studies in your final pack, which set each overage and the best before date. In production, microgram nutrients such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, folic acid and selenium are diluted step by step into a carrier before the main blend, so every unit carries its dose. Tablets are checked in process for weight, hardness and disintegration, capsules for fill weight and gummies for deposit weight. We choose the pack for the most fragile nutrient: bottles with desiccant, blisters or foil sachets against moisture, and opaque packs against light.
Labels are verified on every batch as our critical control point. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories as part of every order, and quality control releases it against its specification. You receive a certificate of analysis for every batch, and from development the specification, the stability data and the claims review for each market.
Register wording for energy, immune and children's claims
Claims follow the register, not the research. The table sets out the position as of October 2026, from the GB nutrition and health claims register, the EU register and US law. In GB and the EU, a vitamin or mineral health claim needs the nutrient at least at a source level, 15% of its reference value per daily dose, unless the claim sets its own condition.
| Market | Claims you can use | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain | The register's exact wording. Energy: "Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue", with matching claims for iron, magnesium and vitamin C. Immune, thyroid, men's health and children's bone growth: the claims quoted above. | Claims for elderberry, echinacea, sea moss or bee products, none of which is authorised. "Boost" wording. Medicinal claims of any kind. |
| European Union | The same wording and conditions from the EU register, including the children's claims. National maximum amounts and notification rules differ by country. | Botanical claims, which remain on hold and which member states handle differently. |
| United States | Structure/function statements backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence, notified to FDA and carrying FDA's standard disclaimer, with a Supplement Facts panel giving % Daily Value. | Medicinal claims. Iron supplements in solid forms, gummies included, without FDA's accidental-overdose warning, and packs holding 250 mg or more of elemental iron without child-resistant packaging. |
Where maximum doses are set, and where they aren't
As of October 2026, these are the points that change what vitamin and mineral brands can make and sell. We review each line every quarter, and our regulation watch tracks the detail.
- EU maximum levels. EU maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in food supplements are under review, so we design EU formulas with a ready alternative.
- National limits in the EU. National maximum amounts apply where member states have set them, so a dose legal in one country can be refused in another. We dose for the strictest country on your market plan.
- Great Britain. GB sets no statutory maximum levels, and every vitamin and mineral must be in a form on its permitted list.
- United States. Federal law stops FDA from setting maximum potency limits for vitamins and minerals, except for products such as those for children, so we set US doses against EFSA's upper levels too.

Questions brands ask
What does a vitamin manufacturer do for a supplement brand?
A vitamin manufacturer turns your brief into a finished, compliant product. At British VitaTech that means choosing each nutrient's form, setting doses between the source level a claim needs and EFSA's upper levels, writing claims for every market, and making every batch in Leicester, tested by accredited partner laboratories and released by our quality control. We make capsules, tablets, gummies, liquids, effervescent tablets, powders and softgels, prepare products for the UK, EU and US, and your formula is yours.
Which vitamin and mineral claims can we use in the UK and EU?
Only authorised claims, in the register's wording and with their conditions of use, as of October 2026. Most need the nutrient at a source level, 15% of its reference value per daily dose. Examples include "Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system" and "Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue". Children's development claims are a separate authorised group, and botanicals such as elderberry and echinacea carry no authorised claim.
Are there maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in supplements?
It depends on the market, as of October 2026. Great Britain sets no statutory maximum levels. In the EU, national maximum amounts apply where member states have set them, so a dose legal in one country can be refused in another. In the US, federal law stops FDA from setting potency limits, except for products such as those for children. We set every dose against EFSA's upper levels and the strictest market on your plan, and design EU formulas with a ready alternative.
Can you make vitamins for children?
Yes, built to tighter rules. We dose against EFSA's upper levels for each age band, such as 50 µg of vitamin D a day from 1 to 10 years, and use only the authorised claims on children's development, such as vitamin D and normal bone growth. Children's gummies get an active assay on every batch, and drops are checked on the final dropper for dose per drop. As of October 2026, US iron supplements in solid forms, gummies included, carry FDA's accidental-overdose warning.
Can an immune supplement say it boosts immunity?
No, not in the UK or the EU. Copy uses the register's wording, such as "Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system", from a nutrient present at least at a source level. CAP's guidance accepts "supports" and "helps" in ads, but not "boosts", "strengthens", "stimulates" or "optimises". Elderberry and echinacea carry no authorised claim, so the immune claim on the label comes from vitamins C and D, zinc or selenium.
Do you make sea moss, greens and bee products?
Yes, with the testing these natural ingredients need. Sea moss batches are tested for iodine, inorganic arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury; spirulina gets a microcystin test; and propolis is specified by its marker compounds and tested for heavy metals and pesticide residues. None of these ingredients carries an authorised health claim in GB or the EU, so any claim on the label comes from vitamins and minerals added to the formula.
Which formats suit vitamin and mineral supplements?
Most vitamins and minerals work at microgram or milligram doses, so they suit every format. Tablets and capsules carry full multi-nutrient formulas, gummies and liquids suit vitamin D, B12 and children's ranges, effervescent tablets suit vitamin C and B vitamins, and powders carry gram doses of minerals. Capsules, gummies and liquids are GMP certified, and every format is made in our Leicester facility, which is ISO 9001, HACCP and GMP certified by BSI.
