A PDRN manufacturer that specifies the source of every raw material

PDRN serums and ampoules, skin booster serums and creams, masks and eye care: we develop and make each one bespoke in Leicester, as a PDRN manufacturer for premium wellness brands. You choose salmon, plant or fermentation PDRN, and we specify its source and grade on every raw material. We build the formula around it and take it to a finished product that is assessed, notified and ready to sell in the UK, the EU and the US. Every product comes with its specification, stability and challenge test reports, the CPSR and a certificate of analysis for every batch. We make cosmetics only: injectable PDRN and polynucleotides are medical devices or medicines and sit outside our scope.

Some private label PDRN serums are stock formulas that anyone can buy under their own name. Bespoke development gives your brand its own PDRN source and grade, supporting actives, texture and pack, with stability and safety data behind them. Your formula is yours, with its specification and data, as our formula ownership commitment sets out.

  • PDRN serums and ampoules. Water-based serums that pair salmon or plant PDRN with hyaluronic acid, panthenol and niacinamide for hydration and smoother-looking skin.
  • Skin booster serums and creams. Clinic-inspired formulas that layer hyaluronic acid in several molecular weights with PDRN, peptides and niacinamide for plumper, more even-looking skin.
  • Masks and eye care. Hydrating masks, eye creams and gels built on the same actives.
  • Plant and vegan PDRN. DNA-based actives from plants or fermentation for vegan positioning, documented and tested as materials in their own right.
  • Serums for intact skin. Products sold for use with microneedling or other procedures that pierce the skin raise questions outside cosmetics law, so we write usage instructions and claims for intact skin.

PDRN sits naturally beside peptide skincare, barrier and sensitive-skin care and Korean-style skincare. We also develop and make scalp care and hair serums, haircare and body care. Our skincare and cosmetic manufacturing hub covers the full range and the cosmetics rules in each market.

How a PDRN project runs

Our research and development team runs each project from brief to scale-up. We agree the PDRN source, grade and level with you, collect the supplier's documentation, and make laboratory samples for you to judge on texture, finish and skin feel. The lead sample goes into stability in its final pack while we write the claims test plan, and a pilot batch confirms the process before the first production run. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size.

Why a PDRN serum earns its claims at the skin's surface

Salmon, plant and fermentation PDRN

PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a mixture of DNA fragments, traditionally from the sperm of salmon trout or chum salmon, with molecular weights of 50 to 1,500 kilodaltons and, in the grades used in medicine, more than 95% purity (Squadrito and colleagues, Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2017). Its reputation comes from medicine: the clinical studies that review covers used injections and medical topical uses, none of them cosmetic. Salmon PDRN is the reference material, purified so that proteins and peptides are inactivated. Plant and fermentation versions are newer, "often derived from plants like ginseng, or through microbial fermentation" (Dermatology Times, 2026). They suit vegan positioning, but they are different materials. A cosmetic scientist who reviewed more than 50 PDRN technologies and finished products found marine, plant, microalgae, fermentation and recombinant nucleic acids "carrying the same four letters, despite not being biologically interchangeable" (Cosmetics Business, October 2026). So data on one source can't support a claim for another, and we specify the source on every raw material.

PDRN fragment size and penetration

Molecules above about 500 daltons cross intact skin poorly (Bos and Meinardi, Experimental Dermatology, 2000). PDRN fragments run from 50 to 1,500 kilodaltons, 100 to 3,000 times that line. A 2026 Dermatology Times analysis of PDRN serums concludes that topical PDRN without an active delivery mechanism "is unlikely to reach the fibroblasts in the viable dermis", and calls a late-2025 study of a low-molecular-weight plant PDRN "a single small study". So a PDRN serum earns its claims at the surface: hydration, smoothness, comfort and how skin looks, measured on the finished product.

Stability and compatibility

PDRN is a nucleic acid, so we keep its serums in a mild pH range, away from the strong acids that break DNA down, and add it as the batch cools. Nucleases, the enzymes that microbes produce to digest DNA, are another threat, so a preservative system proven by challenge testing protects the active as well as the product. We pair PDRN with ingredients that share its pH window, such as hyaluronic acid, panthenol, niacinamide and most peptides, and keep exfoliating acids for separate products.

What we specify on the raw material

Parameter Why it matters How it is checked
Source species Salmon, plant and fermentation PDRN are different materials, and the label and claims must match Supplier documentation, plus DNA-based species testing through partner laboratories for vegan and source claims
DNA content Shows the active is present at the level the formula and claims assume UV absorbance, reported on the certificate of analysis for every lot
Fragment size Grades range from long chains to low-molecular-weight fragments, which behave differently in a formula Gel electrophoresis or size-exclusion chromatography, reported by the supplier
Protein residue and microbiology Purity is the basis of the safety assessment Certificate of analysis checked on every lot

Skin boosters without a needle

A skin booster serum aims at the outcomes people ask clinics for, such as hydrated, smoother and more even-looking skin, using actives that work at the surface. Clinic skin boosters, injections that aim to improve skin quality rather than add volume, made the names familiar, and topical serums followed. Polynucleotides (PN) are long-chain DNA fragments purified for injection into the skin, and one injectable polynucleotide booster studied in 2026 is a CE-marked class III medical device (Lanza and colleagues, Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2026). In a serum, high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid holds water on the surface, and PDRN, peptides and niacinamide add their own effects. Cosmetics law in GB and the EU bans cells, tissues or products of human origin, so we use no human-derived materials, human-derived exosomes included.

PDRN goes in as the batch cools, after the hyaluronic acid

  1. Specify. We agree the specification with you: PDRN source and grade, supporting actives, levels, claims, pack, markets and shelf life, with every ingredient screened against each market's annexes.
  2. Approve suppliers. Every material comes from a supplier approved before use and reviewed every year, and each PDRN lot's certificate of analysis is checked against the specification above.
  3. Weigh and build. Hyaluronic acid is hydrated, the base is built phase by phase, and PDRN is dissolved and added as the batch cools.
  4. Check in process. Appearance, clarity, odour, pH, viscosity and fill weight are checked against the specification.
  5. Fill and label. Products are filled into airless pumps, droppers or single-dose ampoules and labelled, and labels are verified on every batch.
  6. Test, retain and release. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) as part of every order, three retained samples per batch are kept for shelf life plus one year, and every batch is released by quality control against its specification.

Packs for DNA-based serums

A clear, water-based PDRN serum shows any change quickly, and every opening is a chance for microbes to get in. Airless pumps and single-dose ampoules keep air and fingers out of the serum, on top of a preservative system proven by challenge testing. Each pack passes compatibility testing with your formula before we approve it, and every unit carries its batch code and either a best before date or a period-after-opening symbol, set by the stability results.

PDRN source documents and your product file

Each product comes with its documents: the agreed specification, the PDRN source documentation, a certificate of analysis for every batch, the stability and challenge test reports, the CPSR, and the product information file built with you for your Responsible Person. We check label and claims copy for each market you sell in, and add claims test reports to the file when you commission them.

What the assessor and the labs check on a PDRN serum

Before launch, every product has a cosmetic product safety report (CPSR), signed by a qualified safety assessor who compares each ingredient's expected exposure with its safety data, following the SCCS Notes of Guidance. For PDRN, the assessor reviews the source, purity and protein residue on the specification. We run the test programme with accredited partner laboratories:

  • Stability in the final pack, accelerated and real-time, tracking appearance, odour, pH and viscosity, the signs that a DNA-based serum is changing. Our stability and shelf life testing page sets out the method.
  • Compatibility between formula and pack: no leaching, swelling, stress cracking or weight loss.
  • Challenge testing to ISO 11930 for every product that contains water.
  • Microbiology on finished product, against the limits your specification sets.
  • Claims tests, arranged with specialist partners: instrumental readings of hydration, water loss through the skin and elasticity, imaging of texture and lines, consumer perception tests, and patch tests under dermatological supervision.

We make every product in our Leicester facility, which is ISO 9001 certified by BSI, and the certificate's scope includes cosmetics.

Serum or injection: where PDRN stops being a cosmetic

Topical PDRN sells as a cosmetic in all three markets when its claims describe how skin looks and feels; anything injected is a medical device or a medicine. This is the position as of October 2026.

  • Great Britain. We arrange the CPSR and build the product file for your UK Responsible Person, who notifies the product through SCPN before sale. Advertising rules want "a much higher level of evidence" for physiological or cumulative effects, so cell-level claims stay off the pack (CAP advice on creams).
  • European Union and Northern Ireland. The same file supports CPNP notification by your Responsible Person in the EU, or in Northern Ireland for that market. Evidence must be "relevant to the product and to the benefit claimed", so injection studies can't support a serum claim. EU labels carry the expanded fragrance allergen list; Great Britain keeps the original list.
  • United States. FDA lists claims that a product will "regenerate cells" among those that can make it a drug (FDA), so a US label says skin looks renewed, not that cells regenerate. Cosmetics need facility registration and product listing under MoCRA. Our FDA registration is a food facility registration for dietary supplements, so we register our Leicester facility under MoCRA as US skincare programmes start.

Our PDRN claims stay cosmetic everywhere: "skin looks smoother and more radiant" backed by imaging, "boosts hydration" backed by instrumental readings, "skin feels plumper" backed by a consumer test. We write each claim into the specification and the test plan before the first sample. Start your project with your PDRN source, claims and markets.

Questions brands ask

Can you make PDRN injectables or skin booster injections?

No. We make topical cosmetics only. Injectable PDRN and polynucleotides are medical devices or medicines, depending on the product and the market, and one injectable polynucleotide booster studied in 2026 is a CE-marked class III medical device. Cosmetics law covers products applied to the external parts of the body, so anything injected sits outside it. We develop PDRN serums, creams, masks and eye care for intact skin, with claims about how skin looks and feels.

Is plant or vegan PDRN the same as salmon PDRN?

No. Salmon PDRN is DNA from salmon trout or chum salmon sperm, purified so that proteins and peptides are inactivated, while newer versions come from plants such as ginseng or from fermentation. They can share a name without being the same material, so data on salmon PDRN can't support a claim for a plant version. We specify the source on every raw material, test the finished product, and arrange vegan certification for your product with the relevant body.

What can a PDRN serum claim?

Cosmetic claims about how skin looks and feels, backed by tests on the finished serum. PDRN fragments run from 50 to 1,500 kilodaltons, far above the roughly 500 daltons below which molecules cross intact skin, so a serum earns its claims at the surface: hydration, smoothness and radiance. As of October 2026, EU rules require studies relevant to the product claimed, so injection studies can't support a serum claim; in the US, a claim to regenerate cells can make a product a drug.

How do you test PDRN raw materials and serums?

Every PDRN lot is checked against a specification for source species, DNA content, fragment size, protein residue and microbiology, with DNA-based species testing through partner laboratories for vegan and source claims. The finished serum goes through stability in the final pack, pack compatibility, challenge testing to ISO 11930 and microbiology. Every batch is tested by accredited partner laboratories as part of every order, and quality control releases it against its specification.

Can you make PDRN skincare for the US market?

Yes. Topical PDRN is sold in the US as a cosmetic, provided its claims stay cosmetic. As of October 2026, cosmetics need facility registration and product listing under MoCRA, and our FDA registration is a food facility registration for dietary supplements, so we register our Leicester facility under MoCRA as US skincare programmes start. FDA lists claims that a product will regenerate cells among those that can make it a drug, so US labels describe how skin looks.

Who owns a PDRN formula we develop with you?

You do. Your formula is yours, whether we build it from a blank page or adapt one of our tested bases to your brief. The formula, its specification and the supporting data, including the PDRN source and grade, belong to your brand, so you can scale, extend the range or move production on your own terms. R&D is a paid stage that can be included with an order of the right size, and ownership terms are agreed before development starts.
